Writer: The Foodstuff DiaryThe Foodstuff Diary

Tea is considered one of the most popular beverages in the world. It is truly adored by England, Turkish countries and some Asian countries. The true teas are all derived from the Camellia sinensis plant, known commonly as the tea plant. Some of the traditional teas are rich in caffeine. Although they don’t have a significant amount of nutrients, they are rich in polyphenols. These are plant chemicals that give teas their distinct aroma and flavour which can promote health.

What are the different types of tea?

There are mainly three varieties of tea which are popular in India- Green Tea, Black Tea, and Herbal Tea

Simply put, tea leaves gave a green appearance. To keep that green appearance, the leaves for green tea are “fired” as the first step after they are picked off the plant.

Green Tea is popularly consumed in China and Japan. However, both countries have a very different way of preparing it.
