FOODS TO IMPROVE YOUR MOOD!

Most of us turn to food when we're low or not feeling it. Many people tend to eat a lot when they're stressed or are going through something. This is often referred to as "stress eating".

Although, losing your appetite because you're angry or mad is also a real thing. But. we'll come to that later :)


Here's a list of foods that can help you to lift your mood!


Grapes

Grapes are full of Vitamin C and have natural sugar, both of which can enhance mood as well as boost energy!


Ways to include Grapes in your diet Grapes are a healthy versatile fruit that can be eaten in so many ways! You can snack on raw grapes or you can eat them in your fruit salad. 100% grape juice is also recommended for the ones who like raw grapes!


Almonds


Almonds contain good fats for skin and brain health. They are also said to increase dopamine levels in your body. Dopamine plays a role in how we feel pleasure. It's a big part of our unique human ability to think and plan.


Ways to include Almonds in your diet

Many Indians prefer to eat almonds early in the morning after soaking them in water all night. Almonds can also be added to smoothie bowls or can be eaten raw!


Green Tea


Green Tea contains L-Theanine, a certain type of amino acid that helps to decrease anxiety and stress. With a long list of health benefits, you can add green tea as a relaxant to your list!



Bananas

Bananas can increase the production of serotonin and dopamine. Serotonin is the key hormone that stabilizes our mood, feelings of well-being, and happiness! So when you're feeling low, there's always banana turn too! :p


Dark Chocolate

Dark Chocolate improves blood flow to the brain and is one of the most popular foods that is eaten to lift your mood instantly!


Ways to include Dark Chocolate in your diet:

Dark chocolate can be eaten raw, but since it has a bitter taste, it is not preferred by many! You can always grate your dark chocolate over your oatmeal or smoothie bowl! Dark Chocolate can also be added to your baked goods like cookies or brownies.


Yogurt

Yogurt can help boost your Vitamin D in the body. Vitamin D is obtained from the sun. Lack of vitamin D can cause depression and may have a negative impact on mental health.


You can add yogurt to your fruit smoothie or make it a dip and eat it with your nachos or bread!



Strawberries

Strawberries are an amazing source of potassium and Vitamin C. Potassium can help generate nerve impulses.


Strawberries can be eaten raw or in a dessert. Strawberry is usally enjoyed best with Nutella.



Avocados

Avocados are great fro skin and hair. They are a great source of different Vitamins! It is high in fiber and helps promoting regular bowel moments. Avocado increases dopamine levels which can help to reduce depression.


The soft, creamy texture of an avocado and its mild taste makes it a perfect first food for babies or as any dip along with some chips or nachos!



Oats

Oats are whole grain which are usually a crucial part of breakfast. Oats provide fiber that can stabilize your blood sugar levels and boost your mood. They’re also high in iron, which may improve mood symptoms in those with iron deficiency anemia


You can enjoy them in many forms, such as overnight oats, oatmeal, muesli, and granola.



 

THE BOTTOM LINE-


Small dietary changes can affect your health in long term! Some people rely on food for their sad day, it is important to turn to trained doctors incase of severe anxiety or depression!
