Recently, rainbow food was trending all over the world. Rainbow colors were included in each and every food from donuts to bagels and spaghettis. But, do you know the main reason behind this hype??
Some plants contain certain compounds which are called phytonutrients which add rich color and distinctive aroma to the plants. They are commonly found in fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, and spices. Phytonutrients are of many types which include flavonoids, carotenoids, etc. but let’s not get into that!
Did you know that adding different colors to your meal will help you live a longer and healthier life? Well, I was surprised too!
Phytonutrients help in protecting chronic diseases and lung diseases. They even have potent anti-cancer properties. They have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which can help to support a human body.
Here are some tips to involve phytonutrients in your diet
To get started, try to include the maximum number of plant-based colors in your meal. Each color has its own benefit and remember, no color is superior to another. Hence, a balance has to be maintained.
Try to avoid peeling foods like apples, eggplants, peaches
